Making animals’ lives better makes life better – join our team today! Position Brand Description: The Reliability Manager leads and champions reliability engineering at the Elanco Speke site.
This role blends leadership responsibilities (managing a team including a Reliability Technician(s) with individual contributions to developing and implementing strategies that maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
You will analyze equipment performance, troubleshoot failures, implement preventative solutions, and drive the site-wide reliability roadmap.
Collaboration with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams is crucial, as is ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements. Additionally, the manager partners to influence and implement improvements across functional disciplines to ensure that the site achieves all business plan objectives and remains compliant with all regulatory requirements. Key Objectives/Deliverables: 1.
Reliability Vision: Engage site leaders in establishing a forward-looking Reliability Vision that anticipates future growth and ensures continued support for key programs. 2.
Reliability Roadmap: Develop and implement a Speke-specific reliability roadmap utilizing Elanco's Maintenance and Reliability (M&R) Best Practices.
This roadmap will incorporate key reliability engineering principles to optimize equipment maintenance strategies to minimize downtime. 3.
Improve Equipment Reliability and Availability.
Implement and maintain key reliability programs, leveraging the following principles: * Equipment Criticality Assessment: Prioritize equipment based on criticality to operations. * Asset Strategy Improvement (ASI) / Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA): Proactively identify and mitigate potential failure modes. * Root-Cause-Failure Analysis (RCFA): Determine the root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions. * Mechanical Integrity: Ensure compliance with PSM/COMAH requirements, utilizing reliability principles to prevent failures. * Predictive/Preventive/Condition-Based Maintenance (PdM/CBM): Implement strategies based on equipment condition and predicted failure patterns. * Design for Reliability: Incorporate reliability considerations into the design of new and modified equipment. * Precision Maintenance: Apply precision maintenance techniques to optimize equipment performance and longevity. * Spare Part Strategy: Optimize spare parts inventory to ensure availability while minimizing costs. 4.
CMMS Support: * Developing and Optimizing Preventative Maintenance (PM) Plans: Utilizing reliability data and analysis to create and refine effective PM plans within the CMMS, specifying tasks, frequencies, and required resources. * Implementing Predictive Maintenance (Pdm) Strategies: Integrating Pdm data and recommendations into the CMMS to trigger maintenance activities based on equipment condition.
This might involve setting up alerts and automated work orders based on Pdm findings. * Developing and Managing Maintenance Procedures: Creating detailed task lists, step-by-step maintenance procedures within the CMMS to guide technicians and ensure consistent execution of tasks. * Spare Parts Management: Optimizing spare parts inventory levels within the CMMS, considering failure rates, lead times, and criticality of equipment.
This helps ensure parts are available when needed while minimizing inventory costs. 5.
Analysis and Reporting: * Monitor and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and uptime by addressing reliability issues. * Reporting Key Performance Indicator (KPI) : Setting up and monitoring key reliability KPIs within the CMMS, such as MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), MTTR (Mean Time To Repair), and availability. * Identifying Trends and Patterns: Analyzing CMMS data to identify trends and patterns in equipment failures, maintenance costs, and other relevant metrics, providing insights for continuous improvement initiatives. * Provide technical reports for major equipment failures, including recommendations/CAPA based on reliability analysis. 6.
Reliability Engineering SME: * Partner with engineering leadership to provide insights into current asset health, enabling effective recapitalization planning. * Collaborate with the Maintenance Director to embed reliability-focused procedures and processes into the maintenance team's daily work. * Support the Maintenance Director to ensure a comprehensive essential craft skill training program is in place and monitored for success.
Provide guidance and support as new tools and technology are implanted through effect equipment strategies. * Support capital projects, ensuring maintainability and reliability are built into the design and that maintenance strategies are defined using reliability principles. * Interact with global reliability/maintenance resources to identify and replicate best practices and align activities with corporate initiatives, standards, and practices, sharing knowledge of applied reliability engineering principles. 7.
Provide supervision to Eng Tech(s): * Ensure everyone in the department has a performance management plan and a development plan that aligns with individual objectives, department/functional goals and plant site initiatives. * Documenting all aspects of performance for the employees in the department including interim reviews, final reviews, compensations decisions, disciplinary actions, training, compliance, etc., * providing supervision and coaching, * Working with Human Resources to resolve personnel issues Basic Requirements: * Demonstrated ability to influence individuals and teams. * Knowledge of Elanco Quality and Engineering Standards. * Knowledge of Elanco Health, Safety and Environmental Standards * Strong engineering fundamentals Additional Preferences: * Experience with Lean Manufacturing * Experience with SAP EAM * Knowledge of Proactive Asset Management (PAM) Education Requirements: * Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Elanco is an EEO/Affirmative Action Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, protected veteran status, disability or any other legally protected status
