If you are ready to kickstart your career in precision machining, apply now Tasks The key responsibilities and duties of the Trainee Machinist include, but are not limited to: Operate a Variety of Machines to perform assigned tasks, you will produce or repair precision parts using both manual and automated equipment (CNC) and accurate measuring instruments Read and Review paperwork, drawings and Instructions to understand specifications of output Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job Take accurate measurements using micrometres, Vernier callipers, height gauges etc. Set up, operate and maintain machine tools Monitor machine while working to adjust the speeds and feeds and make set up changes if necessary Perform routine machine coolant checks, maintenance and tooling checks Operate overhead Crane Requirements The ideal Trainee Machinist should meet the following requirements: Minimum GCSE level or equivalent Ability to communicate fluently in written and spoken English Qualification in an engineering subject would be desirable Illustrate previous knowledge and experience in Machine Shop/ Engineering Facility Good awareness and understanding of PPE Previous experience with CNC or manual Machine Tools desirable, but not essential Able to use their own initiative Good communicato r- ability to communicate with staff on business, and other issues that affect the business Monday to Friday (Double day 06:30-14:30 / 14:30-22:30) Occasional loud noises from machinery and other production department activity Must be willing to work shifts Please note you must currently be eligible to work and remain indefinitely without any restrictions in the UK.
