Dunlarg care home is situated in the peaceful countryside in the village of Keady, County Armagh. The home has easy access to local shops and public transport. Dunlarg is made up of two units and in total cares for 58 residents. Dunlarg provides different categories of care from General Nursing to General Residential Care. Within the categories it can extend to Learning Disability, Mental Health, and Physical Disability under 65. All new residents are met with a warm welcome and are encouraged to enjoy their home from home experience.
The Role
The Senior Care Assistant role in our Homes is part of a dedicated team who are essential to the daily operations of the Home. In our Residential Homes and units, this is a leadership role, working closely with the care team to lead on shifts and manage medication.
Senior Care Assistants provide high quality care and support to our residents in a warm and safe environment. Senior Care Assistants play a crucial role in the delivery of care, working with the care team, the role of a Senior Care Assistant is to provide leadership, guidance and hands-on assistance to ensure the residents receive personalised care that meets their individual needs and preferences.
Our Senior Care Assistants also provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering meaningful relationships and promoting a sense of compassion; an advocacy for the rights and preferences of our residents.
Main Responsibilities
1. Provide direct care and support to residents with activities of daily living, including personal care and mobility in accordance with individual care plans and resident preferences.
2. Observe and monitor the wellbeing of residents ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented as appropriate.
3. Monitor and allocate the work for care assistants.
4. Develop and maintain a good professional relationship with residents, colleagues and visitors responding promptly and courteously to requests and enquiries.
5. Responsibility for the administration and management of medication, medication audits and storage in line with regulatory requirements.
6. Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required as designated by the Home Manager.
