The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to join our exceptional, outward looking, oversubscribed high achieving school which welcomes pupils of all abilities.
St James’s is a member of the Bishop Fraser Trust, a C of E multi academy trust established in 2017. This is an exciting time to join us as it provides a great opportunity to work closely with the other three High Schools in the MAT – Bury C of E High School, Canon Slade School and Bolton St Catherine’s Academy; sharing good practice and building on our ongoing progress.
Main Duties:
1. To teach Spanish at KS3 and KS4 at all levels and to all abilities, ensuring that all pupils make very good progress, enjoy their learning, and become well educated.
2. To contribute more widely to the well-being of our pupils, through being a form tutor, undertaking duties, and being a role model for them for their learning and their conduct.
The successful candidate will be someone who:
1. Has a sound and developed knowledge of your subject and of its examination specifications.
2. Has the ability and/or experience to teach Spanish at KS3 and KS4.
3. Can create and maintain a disciplined and stimulating environment in which all students are well motivated and learn.
4. Promotes the appreciation, understanding, and enjoyment of your subject, being passionate about teaching it well.
5. Monitors students’ progress and creates opportunities for all students to reach their full potential.
6. Establishes good working relationships with students and colleagues and with the wider school community.
7. Makes excellent and inventive use of available resources to assist in teaching and learning.
8. Follows departmental schemes of work and assessments in planning work with each group.
9. Completes regular assessments of students' work, providing them with feedback which allows them to make progress.
10. Contributes to the production of resources.
11. Attends and contributes to departmental meetings, and contributes to departmental policies and developments.
12. Attends evening meetings as required, including with parents.
13. Keeps up to date records.
14. Contributes to the production of examination papers and marking them when appropriate.
15. Ensures that the requirements of external examinations are met.
16. Ensures that the Teachers’ Standards are met or exceeded in all your work.
