Ward 16 is a 26 bedded surgical ward, and we are looking for caring and compassionate individuals to join our friendly nursing team at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Trust, Aintree Site. If you are passionate about providing the highest standards of care to patients, we want to hear from you. You will be working as part of an experienced and supportive multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
The postholder will be responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care.
1. Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and undertake delegated tasks from the ward sister/charge nurse.
2. Following successful completion of foundation gateway, will be required to take charge of the ward/department for a span of duty.
3. Always work within the NMC’s Code of Professional Conduct.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
* Participate in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for all patients and carers.
* Determine nursing priorities and plan patient care.
* Maintain nursing records in accordance with the NMC standards and Trust guidelines.
* Ensure due regard is given to customs, values, and spiritual beliefs of patients.
* Assist in the safe custody, checking, and administration of drugs.
* To develop the clinical knowledge and skills to care for acutely ill patients admitted via both planned and unplanned routes.
* Involve patients and carers in the planning and delivery of care.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse, current NMC registration
* Diploma in Nursing
Experience
* Post registration experience and successful completion of band 5 foundation gateway competencies
* Experience within relevant clinical setting
Knowledge
* Knowledge of current nursing issues and clinical governance
Skills
* Ability to organise workload and delegate tasks appropriately
* Good written and verbal communication skills
