Year on year our Property Services Team successfully deliver high quality services to our customer base across the Southwest. We make sure that the assets owned by our clients are properly maintained in line with good industry practice and legal requirements.
We are looking to recruit someone who has a sound knowledge of mechanical engineering, is passionate about their chosen career path and is also keen to help colleagues develop and qualify in their chosen professions.
The role will see you assist in the management and organisation of the workload in the Mechanical Building Services Section. You’ll be managing a variety of schemes and projects making sure we provide a cost-effective service to our clients. You’ll be carrying out surveys and feasibility studies and preparing reports and estimate. The role also requires you to work closely with external clients, architects, building surveyors and other parties for both internal and external projects.
You will need:
* Good knowledge of modern practice in building services engineering with a practical knowledge of building services engineering on construction sites and existing buildings.
* Working knowledge of BS 7671 (IEE Regulations), BS5839 (Fire Alarms), BS5266 (Emergency Lighting), Building Management Systems (Schneider Electrics) or similar, and Health & Safety knowledge – Construction Skill Certification Scheme (CSCS Card).
* Proven or demonstrable track record of supervising contractors and of administering contracts, measurements, and accounts.
* BTEC HNC in Electrical Building Services Engineering /City & Guilds 4467 Higher Professional Diploma in Electrical Building Services (or equivalent).
* Skilled in the use of AutoCAD, and Electrical Building Services engineering design and/or a contracting office.
* Customer service skills with a sound knowledge of products being used and emerging technology.

Skills
Essential:
* Preparation of detailed design, specification for mechanical installations, attention to detail.
* Managing a variety of schemes and projects to ensure an expeditious, efficient and cost effective service is provided to meet client needs.
* To assist with managing, training, directing and supervising staff within the section, commitment to lifelong learning.
* Carrying out surveys and feasibility studies, and preparing reports and estimates.
This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
Knowledge
Essential:
* Designing, maintaining and upgrading systems and buildings, with the end of life and re-use in mind from the outset.
* Ability to calculate carbon emissions and provide indicative economic life expectancy guidance on assets.
* Eliminating waste through resource efficiency using low energy building design solutions.
* Knowledge of relevant Health and safety and engineering fundamentals, including mechanics, thermodynamics and fluid dynamics.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
* Electrical design engineering.
* Supervising building contracts.
