Now part of the Genuit Groups’ Climate Management Solutions (CMS) business unit, ADEY has ambitious growth plans. The Role 12-month Fixed Term Contract The Design Engineer will provide technical support on new and existing product ranges. This will include providing additional support to team members working on projects or ad hoc enquiries including (but not limited to) feasibility studies, costings, testing, problem solving, prototyping, CFD/FEA analysis, liaising with other departments to find the best practical solution. Looking for a dynamic individual that has the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time. As well as your supporting role you will also be responsible for designing and developing new products for the company to meet specifications. Modifications and improvements to our existing range of products will also be required from time to time. Managing projects from concept to production (cradle to grave) including sketching, calculations, detailed drawings and testing. You will be responsible for key stages of NPI/ECR process and ensuring milestones are met and ensuring the design meets the specification as well as compliance/regulations. You will closely work with the product manager and project team to meet business needs as well as provide regular updates, you must possess the drive and passion required to meet timescales. Some UK and overseas travel may be required. You must possess a unique blend of design skills to suit a range of manufacturing process including (but not limited to injection moulded components, CNC machined components and investment cast components and fabricated assemblies. You must have well-grounded project engineering and communication skills to push projects through on time and within budget. Working hours: 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday, covering core hours 9am-4pm. Working style: Hybrid working with requirement to attend the office to meet business needs. Responsibilities Producing detailed 3D design concepts to meet product specification then developing the chosen solution to include parts list, costing, calculations, FEA/CFD, prototyping, testing, detailed drawings etc. Responsible for problem-solving and finding solutions to sometimes complex design problems. Researching new ideas or manufacturing techniques to achieve the best possible results. Always following sound engineering practice and consideration of BS/EU standards when designing and providing engineering solutions. Ensuring the suitability and availability of materials and manufacturing techniques. Produce technical reports and have a good file management approach to meeting ISO 9001 where the complete ECR/NPI process needs to be documented for traceability. Ensuring thorough research and development testing is followed so all new products are reliable and FMEA is considered. Lead NPI projects to ensure all necessary milestones, meeting business needs and successfully handing over. Responsible for time management of own workload and projects. The Person The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas: Experience of Injection moulded part design Knowledge of moulding process and commissioning of tooling to enable production quality parts. FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) Solidworks 3D CAD system Project engineering skills Experience with PDM Drawings for manufacture Excellent written and verbal communication skills High volume manufacturing and assembly methods Machined Component design Bill of materials Generating design concepts FEA (Finite Element Analysis) Knowledge of pressure vessel design Ability to manage NPI/ECR projects Flow analysis (CFD) Apprenticeship/ONC/HNC/Degree in Mechanical engineering or Product Design.
