Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled DB Governance Manager to join our Pensions Secretariat Team. This role is instrumental in the governance of the Group's UK pensions and life assurance arrangements, encompassing Defined Benefit (DB) and Defined Contribution (DC) schemes with combined assets under management of £5.7bn and approximately 170,000 members. Reporting to the Head of Trustee Governance, you will support the Trustee Board, its committees, governance projects, and risk management activities to deliver best-in-class governance and services.
Key Tasks
1. Governance Support: Deliver exceptional secretariat services across the in-house portfolio of UK pension arrangements, including drafting agendas, preparing meeting papers, and coordinating with advisers and fund managers.
2. Investment & Funding: Support investment and funding governance for the UK DB pension arrangements, including monitoring strategy performance, hedging mandates, and risk management activities.
3. Committee Management: Provide executive support to key committees such as the Investment Implementation Committee (IIC), Funding & Investment Strategy Committee (FISC), and Environmental, Social and Governance Committee (ESGC).
4. ESG Leadership: Take a leading role in developing ESG policies, managing climate and stewardship reporting, and supporting the Trustee's net zero ambitions.
5. Risk Management: Own and monitor risks assigned to relevant committees, ensuring regular reviews and updates to the risk framework system.
6. Advisor and Supplier Relations: Manage relationships with advisers, fund managers, and suppliers, ensuring value for money and adherence to budgets and contracts.
7. Strategic Implementation: Support the execution of key governance projects in alignment with the Trustee's annual and strategic business plans.
8. Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, Trustee policies, and Company procedures.

1. Pensions Expertise: Exposure to DB funding and investment matters, with experience in committee work and a strong interest in investment and markets.

3. Organisational Excellence: Strong planning, prioritisation, and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
4. Interpersonal Strengths: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and negotiate budgets effectively.
5. Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with ESG, climate reporting, and governance documentation is highly desirable.
