Your Role
As a Technical Project Manager in our EMEA Defence Team, you will oversee a portfolio of projects, managing all phases from planning and execution to successful delivery. While project complexity may vary, most will have a strong technical focus. Your responsibilities will span from project initiation and requirements gathering to customer sign-off and ongoing support. Collaboration is key—you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, consultants, and customers, to drive the delivery of innovative solutions. As well as working within a team you will have autonomy and should be comfortable working independently.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning and Management: Develop comprehensive project plans, outlining scope, milestones, timelines, and resource allocation. Monitor project progress, adjusting as necessary to ensure successful completion.
2. Project Leadership: Lead and motivate a multidisciplinary team, fostering a collaborative environment to achieve project goals. Assign tasks, set clear expectations, and provide guidance to team members.
3. Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders. Communicate project status, risks, and issues effectively, ensuring alignment and managing expectations.
4. Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies. Proactively address challenges to minimize impact on project timelines and deliverables.
5. Quality Assurance: Ensure that all project deliverables meet the highest quality standards and align with client requirements and organizational objectives.
6. Continuous Improvement: Analyze project outcomes to identify areas for improvement. Implement best practices and lessons learned to enhance future project performance.
7. Opportunity Identification: Work closely with the customer to understand their needs and requirements, identifying opportunities to increase project growth.
About you:
1. Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
2. Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in either the defence or security sectors at an SO2/SO3 level or equivalent. Demonstrated success in managing complex projects from inception to completion.
3. Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, IT infrastructure, and systems integration. Experience with military training management solutions is advantageous.
4. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
5. Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
6. Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing effective solutions.
7. Security Clearance: Eligibility for security clearance is required due to the nature of our customers and projects.
8. Travel: Ability to travel regularly to customer sites (UK and Europe mainly) often for extended periods of time.
