Customs Compliance Executive
Seeking a Customs Compliance Executive to join my aviation industry client on a permanent basis, on the outskirts of Burgess Hill (Own transport essential). You will be responsible for overseeing and managing all shipping activities, imports and exports. Coordinating with various freight forwarders, importers and clearance agents, you'll ensure that all logistical activities are carried out efficiently & in compliance with company procedures and in accordance with HMRC regulations. The Customs Compliance Executive will report to the Materials Manager and is crucial for optimising the logistics processes, reducing costs, and ensuring timely availability of materials to support maintenance and operational needs. Role: Customs Compliance Executive
Salary: £27,000 - £35,000 per annum DOE
Contract: Monday - Friday - 9am-5:30pm
Location: Outskirts of Burgess Hill, West Sussex. 100% office based.
Responsibilities
1. Plan and oversee the transportation of goods, including international and domestic shipments.
2. Ensure timely delivery of required items by coordinating with procurement, maintenance and operations.
3. Ensure all goods are imported and exported in accordance with HMRC regulations, checking import and export declarations and control of records.
4. Preparation and leading of HMRC Audits.
5. Develop and implement logistics strategies to support the efficient movement of materials and parts.
6. Participate in regular customs compliance training to ensure the company is compliant at all times.
7. Develop and maintain strong relationships with couriers.
8. Communicate effectively with customers regarding logistics activities and timelines.
Ideal Candidate Profile
1. Minimum one years' experience within a commercial logistics/shipping environment.
2. A good understanding of commodity codes, customs declarations, Incoterms, ATA carnets, certificates of origin, raising commercial invoices, duty and VAT, etc.
3. Ability to work under pressure.
4. Hands on - Happy to assist with other business needs when required.
5. Fluent in oral and written English, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Highly organized with a keen attention to detail, capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritising workload.
7. Proactive in identifying issues and finding effective solutions.
8. GCSE grade 4 or above in English and Maths, or equivalent.
9. Must already hold unrestricted rights to live & work in the UK. No sponsorships can be provided.
