Degree Civil Engineering Apprentice - VINCI Building - Midlands
We have an exciting opportunity for an apprentice Civil Engineer to join our construction site teams in Midlands region. We work on a variety of interesting and challenging construction projects predominantly within the healthcare, education and commercial sectors. You will attend day release to university to gain a degree in civil engineering.

Hours: Monday to Friday, from 8.00am to 5.00pm, 40 hours a week.
Duration: 5 years
Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
You will gain valuable experience in different departments to gain competence in the following areas:
* Engineering – procedures, methods of construction, engineering principles, temporary works, setting out, planning and delivering works.
* Planning & Programming – short term programming, productivity.
* Commercial Management – procedures, costs, commercial reporting, subcontract management.
* Quality Control – supervision, reporting results, handover and assurance, management of site activities.
* Health and Safety – VINCI procedures, subcontractors and supplier management.
* Sustainable Development – environmental and corporate social responsibility.
* Interpersonal skills – teamwork, stakeholder engagement and communication of technical information.
Our regions cover a large geographic area and although we try to place staff near to their homes, sometimes they may be required to work some distance away.
Where you’ll work
Training
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Course contents
* Evaluate the impact of civil engineering infrastructure on society and the environment taking account of business, client and end user needs in its construction, management and use.
* Proactively consider welfare, health, safety and sustainability in the life cycle of civil engineering infrastructure.
* Apply mathematical, scientific and engineering principles, methods and modelling to the design and construction of civil engineering infrastructure.
* Use and validate digital solutions and data gathering tools to model, evaluate, design, test, build, and manage civil engineering infrastructure.
* Develop innovative, safe, technical solutions to civil engineering problems.
* Interpret and apply design and quality standards including codes of practice, legal and regulatory frameworks.
* Manage and apply safe systems of work including taking responsibility for own obligations for health, safety and welfare issues.
* Manage the planning, budgeting and organisation of tasks, people and resources.
* Manage teams and develop staff to meet changing technical and managerial needs.
* Communicate effectively and provide guidance to others.
* Carry out and record the continuing professional development necessary to maintain and enhance knowledge and competence as a civil engineer.

Requirements
A Level or equivalent in:
* Maths (grade 5 or above)
BTEC or equivalent in:
* BTEC Extended Diploma (grade DMM to DDM)
Other in:
* A Levels (104 to 120 UCAS) (grade BCC to BBB)
