Grazing Operations Manager - Canterbury
Looking for an opportunity to manage the largest dairy support operation in New Zealand?
Dairy Holdings Ltd is recognised as one of New Zealand’s leading dairy businesses, led by business and sector experts with a strong growth trajectory, a clear vision for the business now and into the future.
With a closed herd, self-contained strategy, the business has established the position of Grazing Operations Manager to achieve best practice in pasture grown and harvested, people and safety, live weight, and profitability targets. Key to achieving this will be the leadership of the grazing block supervisory team and your ability to work closely, and successfully, with the dairy operations team.
As you would expect, there is a comprehensive job description, but of as much interest to you will be the:
1. Opportunity to learn from the best with a structured support and mentorship programme
2. Career progression opportunities a role and a business such as this affords you
3. Level of challenge that mirrors the opportunities, meaning that every day the acid will be on performance with learning coming from being able to take a 360 degree look at yourself
In a world where first class opportunities are hard to find, this is a rare chance to join this business at a senior level and accelerate your career exponentially.
Successful leaders in this business strike the right blend between focusing on people and driving performance, being direct and caring, balancing knowledge and intuition. They are all smart, proven professionals who give their all and face forward relentlessly.
To be successful in winning this role you’ll come from a commercial, relationship orientated role, likely in a corporate aligned with the agri sector. You’ll have been exposed to leadership situations and be developing your own style that effectively navigates across diverse people and situations. You’ll be smart, think laterally, and have sound commercial and financial acumen. The business is seriously considering succession so the qualities that separate good from great, including planning ability, pressure tolerance and commitment will be in your DNA.
Operationally you’ll understand the key levers and drivers in a farm system, be dextrous in your thinking with the ability to shift, navigate and negotiate based on the situation and changing circumstances. You’ll develop mutually respectful relationships and be used to working and holding your own in an environment where everyone knows as much, and often more, than you do.
