Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a Youth Justice Worker in the Black Country. The Youth Justice Worker will support youth females who offend, and are known to either the Youth Offending Service or West Midlands Police. The project acknowledges the importance of multi-agency working to deliver a trauma informed, safe, and rehabilitative interventions in order to deter youths from offending. In addition, the support will assist youths to develop key skills in order to be an active member of society and establish motivation for a prosperous future. As part of the project, the advocate will work across a number of sites and Youth offending services to deliver interventions, as well as maintaining professional relationships with youth offending staff, police staff and local partners in order to establish a presence that allows us to access the best support for our youths. This is a full-time 37.5 hours (Mon - Fri), permanent role, offering a salary between £24,065 per annuum based on experience. Travel will be required. Main Duties and Responsibilities Deliver evidence based one to one interventions, group work and advice in a variety of locations such as estates and Youth Offending Service Estates with an aim to deter young people from offending behaviour. Ensure that all interventions delivered are age appropriate, child led to reduce risk and culturally sensitive to young people Offer general awareness of healthy/unhealthy relationships, confidence & self-esteem, managing & understanding emotions, promoting resilience and managing challenges, in order to address the pathways to offending. Create a safe, age-appropriate space to work with young people, encouraging them to share their experiences, thoughts and feelings through peer support. Work will include sensitively challenging experiences and decision making and working to develop early identification of emerging issues, coping strategies, seeking help and knowledge of healthy relationships and support networks Provide emotional and practical support and advocacy to young people with a holistic approach. Support and methodology should be specific/varied to meet the young person’s needs including risk assessment and management plans with a goal to reduce the risk level and increase safety. To make referrals and work together with other agencies and BCWA services to create the best outcomes for young people and, where appropriate, their families, including domestic violence and abuse support services, perpetrator programmes, drug and alcohol services and mental health and wellbeing services. Ensure that cases are sensitively managed, case management systems are accurately completed and risk assessments and support plans are in place and approved. In particular, ensuring that a clear safety and support plan has been created prior to school holidays and relevant referrals for support have been made To develop, maintain and represent positive, collaborative working relationships with external professionals and all BCWA staff, being committed as part of the team to providing a high level of support. To participate in BCWA performance management processes within agreed timescales, providing robust outcomes and evaluation reports on progress within the role. To ensure effective communication across all services and ensure that the service manager is informed at all times of any issues that impact effective service delivery. To work within the organization’s quality assurance framework and ensure we provide a quality service to victims of abuse. To develop innovative ways of working with young people based on good practice and evidence based research. Person Specification GCSEs English and Mathematics – Grade C or above. Experience of working with children/young people, acknowledging safeguarding concerns and responding appropriately. Experience of handling a caseload. Experience of working with/signposting families with complex needs, such as mental health and substance misuse. Experience of using risk assessments and appropriate interventions tools to manage and identify risk Additional Information Role is subject to DBS check at the relevant level.
