We wish to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Adolescent Team who provide a highly specialist service for young people in Bromley. You will work with adolescents up to 18 years and their families/carers, with significant and acute mental health difficulties who are at risk of requiring Tier 4 inpatient care.
Bromley CAMHS maintains close links with CAMHS services across all three boroughs (Bexley, Greenwich) and there will be an opportunity to contribute to ongoing work in developing services for young people with crisis and acute presentations. Main duties of the job
The Bromley Adolescent Team is the treatment pathway for children and young people who experience acute mental health conditions and who may be at risk of inpatient admission, requiring a rapid response, intensive intervention, crisis and risk management. The team adopts a Mentalisation-based approach in clinical work with young people and their families/support network.
In broad terms, the function of the Adolescent Team is:
1. To provide a rapid response assessment and treatment service with intensive interventions to young people who experience significant or acute mental health difficulties.
2. To support young people to remain in the community where possible and for those who are admitted to inpatient care, to facilitate transition to and from community services.
3. To provide consultation, support and to work in close partnership with professionals and carers in the young person’s network.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Provision of psychiatric care to CYP in the Bromley Adolescent Team through evaluation, diagnosis and use of appropriate treatment plans/strategies for children presenting with mental health difficulties.
2. High quality note keeping and adherence to clinical standards on our electronic patient record, RiO.
3. Contributing to decisions regarding care plans, discharges and treatment of patients in accordance with medical standards.
4. Consultation to the team around psychiatric issues and risk management.
5. Alongside the clinical leads and team manager ensuring patient throughput within the team.
6. Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure delivery of the right treatment for each young person referred in keeping with evidence-based practice and CYP IAPT framework.
7. To manage, appraise and give professional supervision to junior medical staff as agreed between consultant colleagues and the medical director in accordance with the Trust’s personnel policies and procedures.
