Site Electrical Engineer for Cambridge
The Role
1. Controlling the main power systems that supply site manufacturing, buildings, and offices as well as the distribution circuits to each area.
2. Manage site High voltage and Low voltage network capacity and maintenance thereof.
3. Responsibility for making sure that every electrical device or circuit installed meets the National Electric Codes.
4. Testing of electrical systems once they are installed to ensure all systems are stable and safe.
5. Schedule and execute Electrical supply equipment maintenance strategies (predictive and preventive).
6. The Site electrical engineer will evaluate and authorise maintenance and contractors for works onsite.
7. Act as the site authorised person for the management of electrical equipment including hazardous areas.
8. As part of the engineering team, support the safe operation of the site, including supporting project activity, advising the operational maintenance teams of maintenance needs for plant side power systems, and issuing and controlling safe system of work permits for electrical works.
Qualifications:
1. Recognised Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent, minimum BTEC HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
2. COMPEX Ex 14 (responsible persons), COMPEX Ex 1-4 (gas/vapours) and 5-6 (dust). Good working knowledge of BSEN 60079.
3. Relevant electrical engineering experience in operations and maintenance of large industrial plants is required.
4. Expert knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations (EAWR 1989) and Health and Safety at Work Act (HASAWA 1974).
5. Trained to the latest requirements for electrical installations BS7671.
6. Experience of industry standard risk assessment techniques such as HAZOP, FMEA.
7. Understanding of industrial process safety.
8. Rockwell PLC knowledge required (Logix 5000 & 500, plus RS view).
9. Strong communication skills and ability to deal tactfully and efficiently at all levels of the organisation.
10. Awareness of operational safety requirements in a manufacturing environment and ability to apply and follow procedures and requirements per regulatory bodies.
