We have an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our friendly team at Kings Norton Hospital in Birmingham. This fixed-term role (starting in August 2025) is ideal for both newly qualified and experienced therapists who are eager to develop their skills in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.
Kings Norton Hospital is a newly built facility, dedicated to delivering high-quality intensive treatment in a safe, caring, and secure setting. We support adults of all genders with severe and complex mental health conditions, providing specialist care across our three acute wards. These wards cater to individuals stepping down from Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICUs) or those managing prolonged, complex mental health challenges.
As part of our multidisciplinary team, you’ll collaborate with experienced professionals, including a Medical Director, Specialty Doctors, Psychologists, and Occupational Therapy Assistants, ensuring holistic and person-centred care.

What you'll be working:
This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week), working Monday to Friday. It is initially fixed-term for 9 months, with the possibility of extending to 12 months.
What you'll be doing:
* Collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team, using your occupational therapy expertise to deliver high-quality assessments, care planning, and support for young people in our care.
* Conduct occupational therapy assessments and provide interventions across various settings, such as clients' homes, workplaces, and the community.
* Work closely with patients, families, and carers to encourage active participation in the therapy process.
* Develop individualised treatment programs in collaboration with patients, carers, and other professionals (e.g., occupational therapy assistants, support workers).
* Plan, coordinate, and deliver person-centred interventions, both individually and in groups, using a variety of treatment techniques and graded activity.
* Provide advice on lifestyle changes, functional abilities, self-care, and adaptations to the physical environment, taking into account the effects of medical conditions on the patient and their family.
* Communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team through verbal and written reports, sharing information about assessments, management plans, and treatment progress.
* Provide appropriate supervision and support to team members, ensuring they are guided and supported in their roles.
* Help train care staff and others on occupational therapy principles to ensure an integrated approach to care.
* Ensure the safety and well-being of patients, protecting their rights at all times.
* Be proactive in seeking CPD opportunities to expand your skills and knowledge, ensuring continuous improvement in your practice.
What you'll have:
* HCPC registration
* Experience working in an Adult Mental Health setting would be advantageous
* Flexibility and adaptability, with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your time and workload effectively to meet service needs.
* Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS
