AWE currently has a great opportunity for a Tooling Maintenance Technician to join the Mechanical Engineering Team, within the Engineering Trials Delivery Unit (ETDU). This is an exciting time to join the group as we face the challenge of developing our capability and techniques to deliver the future programme as well as the continuation of AWE's current programme.
Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.
Package: £24,270 - £30,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)

This role would suit a current mechanical Engineer/technician or a dynamic Engineer looking for a career challenge. The role is to deliver Mechanical Engineering support to the ETDU Tooling Manager. This role includes activities such as tooling maintenance, carrying out tooling inspection and repairs using hand tools or suitable mechanical equipment and also document control through AMS.
Ideal Candidates will have the following skills, experience, and behaviours:
* Assist the delivery of Engineering solutions in relation to defined requirements, across the full engineering lifecycle, to a high standard.
* Support Team Leader and Tooling Manager to deliver the programme of work.
* Maintenance and breakdowns through the AMS system.
* Take ownership of own training and development, agreed objectives and project deliverables.
* Develop engineering skills and experience relevant to engineering domain.
* Support scoping and planning activities as required.
* Identify and support opportunities for cost savings, efficiency, and business improvement.
* Assist the delivery of engineering solutions that meet safety and performance requirements.
* Comply with the design intent across the full engineering lifecycle.
* Plan and execute basic tasks to deliver agreed objectives to time, requirements, quality and cost.
* ONC / HNC / HND/ NVQ3 / NVQ4 level or equivalent in a STEM vocational qualification supported by practical experience.
* Experience of working in a mechanical engineering environment.
* Experience of workshop operations.
* Understanding of engineering drawings.

* Proven track record of delivering on time and to cost and quality.
* Strong communication skills (written and oral).
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
* Good working knowledge of IT software systems, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
You'll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
