Job summary Colchester Medical Practice has a fantastic opportunity for a GP assistant (GPA) to join our team on a full or part-time basis for for up to 37 hours per week. This is a 2 year fixed term contract. The GPA position is a support role, covering administrative tasks and, if appropriate, some basic clinical duties, to assist the GPs, enabling them to make the best use of consultation time. The post-holder will form part of our multi-disciplinary, primary-care team and contribute to the smooth running of the surgery. Main duties of the job Managing incoming and outgoing clinical correspondence; Extracting information from clinical documents that require coding; Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow-up appointments; Completing basic (non-opinion) forms, and core elements of some forms, for the GP to approve and sign. These might include insurance, mortgage and benefits agency forms, for example; Improving patient flow; Supporting patient experience by reiterating information from the GP; Assisting with practice tasks; Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies e.g. arranging admission; Supporting the prescription clerk team.
