The music department is a lively and dynamic part of the school community. Thanks to recent funding, the department benefits from a suite of well-equipped classrooms and rehearsal areas. Lessons are delivered in smaller-than-average groups, fostering an engaging and interactive learning environment for students of all ages and abilities.
The Key Stage 3 curriculum covers a diverse and enriching range of musical styles. The department currently provides Edexcel GCSE, Eduqas Performing Arts (Music Technology), and Eduqas A-Level courses. A dedicated team of peripatetic teachers offers instrumental and vocal instruction to Music Scholars - who make up roughly 10% of the student body, ensuring they receive significant subsidies for their weekly lessons.
