Main duties of the job
University Hospitals Sussex (UHS) places immense value on its Aseptic pharmacy team, which has steadily grown in both strength and size over the years. We are delighted to announce an exceptional opportunity for a Senior Technician to join our well-established team of dedicated professionals.
The job holder must be a registered Pharmacy Technician or Science Manufacturing Technician who will need to be able to work with members of the cross site pharmacy aseptic services team and other stakeholders. Aseptic duties are to be carried out in line with the aseptic unit standard operating procedures (SOPs). Work within the pharmacy dispensary will be to the standards specified in the following: Pharmacy dispensing and labelling standards, Pharmacy departmental standard operating procedures ensuring compliance with Responsible Pharmacist legislation.

Job description
Job responsibilities
To provide assistance in the provision of pharmacy aseptic services at St Richard's Hospital for patients within the Trust including: line management of staff, organisation of day to day activities, preparation of cytotoxic products, worksheet and label preparation and monitoring of the environment.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Participate in co-ordinating the activities for the aseptic unit, managing staff placement and ensuring safe working practices within the unit.
2. Ensure that aseptic duties are carried out according to national standards
3. Work towards achieving regional/national accreditations Pre and In Process Checking (PIPC) and Product Approval Accreditation Programme (PAAP) and maintain an up to date portfolio of evidence to meet CPD requirements of the accreditation.
4. Act as a role-model and provide a positive mentoring experience for new and junior staff.
5. Act as line manager for designated member(s) of staff taking responsibility for performance review and objective setting in line with Trust policies.

6. NVQ Level 3 in pharmacy services or equivalent BTEC in pharmaceutical Science or. Completion of Science Manufacturing Process Operative Level 2 apprenticeship
7. Significant experience working in a hospital pharmacy.
8. Significant experience of working within a pharmacy aseptic unit.
Desirable
9. Pre and In Process Checking (PIPC) Accreditation or equivalent or fulfils requirements for undertaking regional course.
10. Nationally accredited Product Approval Checking Technician
11. Educational Supervisor
