Senior Polisher & Finishing Technician

Job Purpose
The Senior Polisher and Finishing Technician is responsible for supervising and executing finishing processes, Machine polishing, Hand polishing, Powder coating, painting, and other surface treatments as required by product specifications.
The Role is mainly focused on the polishing side but successful candidates will be required to work on the prep and paint section, ideally having some experience in powder coat, paint prep although training can be provided.

Main duties and responsibilities
* Supervise and execute finishing processes, including Machine polishing, hand polishing, coating, painting, or other surface treatments, depending on product requirements.
* Perform quality control to receive items from metalwork or pass them to wiring based on priority and workload, inspecting finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and making necessary adjustments for optimal results.
* Apply estimated finishing times to production orders to assist with planning and scheduling of work.
* Report any delays or product issues to Production Supervisor.
* Assigning workload to all operatives, attend production meetings, supervise team on shop floor
* Work closely with the Head of Manufacturing in setting best practices within the department and endeavour to continuously improve these practices and machinery.
* Follow the company standard working procedures including 5s and Health and Safety.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
* Maintain quality standards and follow all processes and procedures
* Endeavour to generate ideas for continuous improvement on how processes can be amended to improve efficiency, including production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
Health & Safety
* Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing staff on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures
* Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed and highlight any risks to either yourself or others, no matter how trivial
General
* Ensure all KPIs and targets are met.
* To adhere at all times to all the Company’s polices and procedures, including Health and Safety, Quality Assurance and Equality and Diversity
* Any other duties which are commensurate with the post
* A flexible approach to work at all times and to work overtime hours when required.
Knowledge and Experience Required
* Knowledge of all finishing processes: Machine & Hand polishing, Powder Coating, Antiquing, Sandblasting, Wet Spray.
* COSHH trained and relevant H&S procedures for department required.
* Experience working a finishing operative to create a range of finishes on products and samples/colour matching
* Experience in production line quality control
* Experience working in a supervisory role
* Experience planning and assigning tasks
* Experience of working to the BS EN 60598 standards and legislation

Desirable Qualifications
Finishing or manufacturing qualification (BTEC/NVQ).
Full UK driving license.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
