Its history dates back to 1895 when it first opened. The school is an exciting, innovative and successful provision for deaf children aged 3 - 16. The post is currently for working in the Secondary School. However, the expectation is that staff may also work in the Primary School. The successful candidate will join a small team of skilled BSL Tutors. We have a skilled team of deaf and hearing staff with a commitment to a child centred sign bilingual approach. We are looking for an experienced BSL Tutor to plan and deliver a British Sign Language curriculum up to Level 4 or higher for Deaf and hearing pupils, parents and staff. The successful candidate will: · have excellent planning and differentiation skills · have excellent communication and interpersonal skills · have a qualification to teach Signature Level 1 to 4, or higher · have energy and enthusiasm and a commitment to work as part of a team · availability to work up to 6.00pm on some evenings · have experience of teaching and formally assessing BSL · be familiar with and practised at using formal assessments · be familiar with DCAL assessment
