I am an 84 year old gentleman living in the Sandfields area with my wife and cat. I used to enjoy playing golf and I currently attend a walking football group. I enjoy watching golf, darts and football on the TV.
I am looking for a PA to support me to access the groups that I attend.
I am a laid back gentleman, and I take my time when processing information and replying in conversation. The PA would need to be patient and understanding of this.
I have Parkinsons, Dementia, COPD and can suffer with depression and anxiety. My conditions mean I have reduced mobility and coordination, and I am at risk of falls. I use a mobility scooter and a 4 wheeled walker when out in the community. The PA would either be able to use their own car, or drive my mobility car which is an automatic. The PA will need to prompt me with time sensitive medication.
Purpose
Support me to attend my exercise group in Sandfields on a Thursday
Support me to attend the Men’s Shed in Baglan on a Friday
Support me with going for a coffee or keep me company at home if the weather is bad.
Promote my independence by supervising me while I’m pottering in the shed or garden
Help me get back up if I fall
Prompt me to take my medication, which must be taken at exact times
Support me to get in and out of the car
Load/ unload my mobility scooter in the car
Drive my mobility car
Person Type
A person who:
Must be a NON SMOKER due to my COPD
Driving Licence is essential
Ideally someone who enjoys watching and discussing sports
Someone who is easy going
Must be patient and understanding
Someone respectful who will encourage me to be independent
Someone who respects my privacy and confidentiality
is trustworthy, reliable and punctual
will treat me with dignity and respect
Hours
8 hours a week to be worked as:
Wednesday – 2 hours anytime between 10am and 2pm
Thursday – 3 hours from 11:45 to 14:45
Friday – 3 hours from 09:30 to 12:30

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.
Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly or monthly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.
You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
