Step into Teaching have a great opportunity to spend a full academic year as a graduate Learning Support Assistant working in a wonderful Secondary School based in Reading. The school creates a happy and secure learning environment where all students’ needs are met and where achievements along with successes are recognised and praised.
All staff are highly ambitious; therefore, the headteacher is looking for someone who is passionate about supporting their students and ensuring every student reaches their full potential by having high expectations for all.
The opportunity:
* Learning Support Assistant
* £450 - £475 weekly – term time only!
* Based in Reading
* Full time role (Monday - Friday) for the full academic year
* Start January 2025 until July 2025
* Gain classroom experience first before training to become a teacher
Job Specification:
* Hold/Predicted a degree (2:2 or above)
* Previous experience working with young people with learning difficulties (preferred but not essential)
* Be passionate about supporting children with their learning
* Be enthusiastic, friendly and confident
* Have a commitment to inclusion and equal opportunities
* Must be able to relate well to young people and adults and have some understanding of the range of needs of young people with learning difficulties
* Be able to work effectively in a team
Key responsibilities within the role:
* Providing support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
* Building and maintaining successful relationships with students, whilst treating them with respect and consideration
* Having the highest expectation that every student will make sustained academic and personal progress
* Ensuring that every pupil is ready for the next steps in their learning and is supported to participate and contribute
