Commissioning Engineer
Our client, a family-run firm with a strong history, currently has a vacancy for a Commissioning Engineer. This is due to growth and the continued success of the business. They are a market leader and award-winning firm.
Role Objective:
The commissioning engineer will be expected to carry out commissioning on new project installs on and off-site and be responsible for all commissioning activities related to the mechanical and part electrical equipment including documentation. Respond to all service users. Work as part of a team to ensure the smooth running and operation of the department. Maintain all production machines, ensuring operational optimum by providing a quick response to all service users. Liaise with setters and operators to ensure smooth running of the machines.
Duties
1. Work as part of a team to improve the design, planning, and modernisation across the different engineering operations in the business.
2. Collaborate with the development team for new installations and existing machinery moves within the business and at customer premises.
3. Ensure continuous improvement across the business.
4. Provide a quick response to all service users to maintain operational optimum.
5. Liaise with Development, Production, and Engineering departments to ensure smooth transition and running of all operational functions.
6. Conduct controls testing and confirmation down to documentation level.
7. Ensure that overall methodology for commissioning of a particular area is agreed with the in-house team.
8. Keep commissioning records and results up to date.
9. Ensure safe working practices in accordance with company procedures and comply with any Hazardous area requirements (DSEAR).
10. Attend formal handover meetings as required.
11. Categorize and attend to defects.
12. Use engineering machines to remanufacture parts when necessary.
13. Undertake tasks to further develop the machine/machine parts as requested.
14. Respond to plant breakdowns.
15. Accurately report mechanical breakdowns and spares used.
16. Carry out routine/preventative and reactive maintenance on all mechanical aspects of the plant in a safe and efficient manner.
17. Ensure that all works are carried out to a high standard.
18. Perform daily/weekly/monthly PMs to reduce downtime.
19. Improve efficiency on existing machines.
20. Control stores/stock, including ordering of parts.
Requirements
1. City & Guilds trained/qualified in mechanical engineering.
2. Electrical experience is desirable but not essential.
3. Apprentice trained or time served.
4. Experience with the implementation of FAT and SATs.
5. Able to read electrical/mechanical/hydraulic/pneumatic technical drawings.
6. Computer skills for recording/production of data.
7. PLC experience would be desirable but not essential.
Shifts
5-day shifts rotating weekly: AM 0600 to 1400 Monday to Thursday and 0600 to 1300 Friday; PM 1400 to 2200 Monday to Thursday and 1300 to 2000 Friday.
