Theatre Sister/Charge Nurse/Senior Practitioner

We are currently looking for experienced and enthusiastic senior scrub nurses/ODP to join our Orthopaedic Theatre team. The applicant must have at least 12 months scrub experience and possess a wealth of knowledge across multiple sub-specialties in Trauma and Orthopaedic.
The Theatre Unit at RJAH comprises of 12 Theatres; 10 are located in the main theatre unit and 2 in our 'Menzies' unit, alongside a Recovery unit, a HDU and an on-site TSSU. We cover a wide spectrum of primarily elective Orthopaedic surgery including, but not exclusively, Revision & Primary Arthroplasty, Upper limb, Lower Limb, Sports Injuries, Spines, Tumour and Paediatrics.
Please note we are unable to support applicants who require OSCE, as the Trust has a separate and limited application process.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as an expert within the speciality of the Theatre Scrub Team, empowering nursing staff and other allied health care professionals to develop the highest possible levels of clinical skills and facilitate communication with all care groups.
The post holder will manage the service delivery in accordance with the directives set in the Theatre Directorate as specified in the directorate business plan.
Ensuring effective communication within and external to the unit.
Promoting excellence in practice and expedite quality issues relevant to the service and utilising the unit's resources cost effectively, including staffing hours.

Job responsibilities
We are looking for dedicated RGNs / ODPs to join our team. The successful applicant will work alongside all members of the Theatre team and will be responsible for the delivery of safe, high quality evidence-based care within their allocated area, ensuring all resources within that area are safe and fit for purpose and ensuring the highest quality patient care standards.
On a daily basis you will use your clinical knowledge to make decisions about patients in your care and your communication skills to communicate with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure optimum patient care.
The post holder will take responsibility for the Theatre Scrub Team in the absence of the Band 7 Manager, who has continuing 24-hour responsibility. They will hold responsibility for staff management in the absence of the Theatre Scrub Manager.
The successful candidate must be a registered Nurse or ODP with the relevant NMC/HCPC registration. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, motivated, flexible, pro-active and committed to continuing CPD with a willingness to learn new skills.

Proof of qualification
* Registered Nurse with active NMC registration or ODP with HCPC
Experience and knowledge
* Clinical experience in a peri-operative setting
* Demonstrates up to date knowledge of orthopaedic and theatre practice and professional issues.
* Knowledge of line management practice and ability to manage a team
