Utilities Coordination Engineer Location: Plymouth Business Unit: Major Infrastructure Projects (MIP) About the Role We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Utilities Coordination Engineer to join our team within the Major Infrastructure Projects (MIP) business unit. This role is integral to the successful delivery of the 10 Dock facility system design packages, ensuring seamless integration, interface management, and alignment with the overall facility objectives. As a Utilities Coordination Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating communication between design leads, managing utilities interfaces, and articulating how design packages deliver capability functions. You will also play a critical role in contributing to the Dockyard's strategic masterplan and supporting governance and project deliverables. Key Accountabilities Reporting to the 10 Dock External Works Principal Engineer, you will ensure technical management and quality of tasks while aligning deliverables to project scope, schedule, and cost. Principal Tasks and Responsibilities Utilities Planning & Coordination: Develop scope understanding, provide assurance, and align with Dockyard strategic masterplans. Design and Documentation Management: Coordinate design submissions, issue tracking, and BIM clash management. Contract Administration: Manage contracts, variations, and technical queries (CEMAR). Stakeholder Liaison: Collaborate with engineering leads, user acceptance groups, safety leads, and project managers to resolve interface issues and maintain compliance. Governance and Reporting: Support reviews, track progress, and contribute to monthly reports while ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. Interfacing Responsibilities You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including engineering leads, design authorities, environmental and health & safety leads, and submarine operations teams, to ensure cohesive and efficient delivery of design solutions. Qualifications and Experience Academic: A degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant STEM discipline. Chartered Engineer status (or near-chartered) with registration through the Engineering Council or similar body is preferred. Experience and Skills: Proven technical management of complex design projects across the design lifecycle. Expertise in construction design, safety practices, and BIM environments. Familiarity with Dockyard environments, submarine maintenance production engineering, and process optimization. Strong project management and budgeting experience. Understanding of health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures relevant to construction and design.
