Principal R&D Engineer Location: Cheltenham Contract: Permanent We are recruiting for a Electronics Principal R&D Engineer for a client that specialises in complex medical devices, based in Staverton. As a Principal Engineer, you'll have the chance to apply your prior electronics engineering skills alongside your product design experience to a wide range of products and technologies, some you may be familiar with, some not. The important part of this role is your ability to add value and influence the design by leaning on your general engineering experience to de-risk the design and ensure diagnostics and future proofing are taken in to account as much as robust design principles. Role Requirements – Principal R&D Engineer (Electronics) To contribute to all aspects of the product design from an electronics and general engineering point of view. To help lead R&D activities. To occasionally design PCBAs (Schematic capture, Layout, FMEA/Component Rating analysis etc) The ideal candidate for the Principal R&D Engineer (Electronics) role would have: A good degree of experience of PCBA design. Good general engineering knowledge surrounding complex control systems. Understanding of product variability and how to intelligently develop calibration strategies (alongside designing variability out). A demonstrable appreciation of working in a controlled engineering environment (such as a regulated industry or any environment with engineering control). An ability to produce small ad-hoc reports as well as being experienced in producing requirements, design and test documentation. A broad knowledge of analogue and digital electronics.
