We are looking for an experienced and capable Survey Scientist to join our research team. Our practitioners have expertise in human-computer interaction, cognitive and behavioral psychology, computer science, neuroscience, human factors, and ergonomics. This unique skill set allows us to partner with business and technology teams firm-wide to create applications that are easy to use, engaging, powerful, and competitive. For the firm to succeed, we need to measure and understand the impact our teams are having for the people and communities who use our apps and services. We are looking for someone with strong quantitative research skills to help in this effort, collaborating with qualitative user researchers to support key strategic initiatives within Engineering, focused primarily on the experience of developers (both internal and external to the firm). The ideal candidate will be innovative, creative, and an analytical problem solver – a scientist with expertise in survey methodology (e.g. bias correction, sampling) and quantitative research methods, or a quantitative specialist with experience solving survey methodology problems (especially for self-administered online surveys). HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL As an experienced Survey Scientist, you will be responsible for scoping and crafting research strategy, conducting quantitative research, and delivering actionable insights for strategic programs within financial services, with an initial focus on Developer Experience. Collaborate with product teams to define relevant questions around survey methodology and quantitative measurement. Deploy appropriate quantitative methodologies to answer those questions. Develop novel approaches where traditional methods won't do. Provide teams with usable measurement strategies and methodologies to meet their product and business decision needs. Deliver insights and recommendations clearly to relevant audiences. MINIMUM SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR Masters or Ph.D. in a quantitative field (e.g. statistics, informatics, econometrics, computational social sciences or related field), and experience with applied problems in survey research Demonstrated mastery in quantitative and survey research methodologies - e.g. bias correction for surveys, survey sampling and design, regression modelling, causal inference with a survey outcome, shrinkage and regularization, designing and analyzing longitudinal panel surveys, behavioural data analysis. Knowledge in data manipulation, and the ability to connect research findings from multiple projects/sources and provide insights on a higher order. Experience communicating analyses and results to any audience. Experience of independently scoping and planning a survey research program (can include multiple projects with multiple related studies), consulting with relevant stakeholders and team members. You are focused on results, with superior interpersonal skills, excellent communication and organization skills, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Preferred Qualifications Meaningful experience using Qualtrics. 5 years of experience in user research in the context of product management, interaction design, information architecture, and visual design for digital experiences. Domain expertise in financial services and/or developer experience a plus. Experience conducting user research for complex business applications. Strong knowledge of user-centered design processes and principles. Experience with data visualization a plus. Familiarity and experience with other key online research platforms is a plus (for example, DScout, Validately, UserTesting.com, UserZoom, etc.) Experience using statistical analyses program such as SAS, SPSS, or R. Self-motivated and self-managed with a high degree of analytical ability and intellectual curiosity.
