Job description
Learning Mentor/Teaching Assistant
Full time, term time only
An interesting opportunity has arisen for a learning mentor to join our Additional Educational Needs (AEN) Department. This is to undertake work and deliver targeted support within the classroom and to assist with general duties for provision for inclusion as required. We have several positions available.
The Learning Mentor will lead from the front of their role, motivate and inspire students, staff, families and the wider community, to ensure every student is confident in themselves, is respectful of others, achieves well and gains the skills and qualifications to succeed in life and at work. The Learning Support Assistant will work with resilience, initiative and judgement, an eye for detail, the aptitude to prioritise workload, as well as a capacity to manage their time effectively. The Learning Support Assistant will ensure that the SEND graduated approach to student support and learning is applied and fulfilled at MRC, College wide, for all students across year groups whose SEND condition and needs fit this category.
The successful candidate will have the ability to analyse students' learning needs, encourage, motivate and support them to overcome barriers to learning; having high expectations of student achievement whilst enabling students to become independent learners and develop positive behaviours. You should be able to work in a team, be flexible and have a positive attitude.
The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
We reserve the right to close the vacancy before the closing date so early applications are encouraged.
Closing date for applications: 9 May 2024
