What You’ll Do at Work
An apprenticeship with us will see you building new skills while applying your knowledge to real-world live projects. There will be plenty of opportunities to explore your potential, and you’ll enjoy full support from the marine team. You will be required to ensure that you adhere to safe working practices and also be able to take instructions and act upon them in a prompt and professional manner.
1. Based at our Nottingham production facility, you'll learn key concepts related to all products and equipment for our Global Marine and Navy department.
2. You'll collaborate on projects with the broader engineering team, spread across our four UK production sites.
3. As you progress, you'll gain a broad understanding of various roles, spending time in projects, production sales, and site services.
4. You'll learn the concepts of design and engineering drawing in 2D AutoCAD.
5. You'll enhance your knowledge in testing and configuring systems and using production software.
6. Once you're familiar with Johnson Controls products, you'll have the opportunity to transition to our projects department and work on large-scale projects.
7. You'll work with suppliers to ensure everything is manufactured and tested correctly.
8. With familiarity in our products and systems, you'll be given the chance to participate in our large-scale projects.
9. You'll work closely with the wider engineering team and assist in project estimation.
Where You’ll Work
You will be based from our Nottingham manufacturing facility, although there may be an expectation to travel to our other sites.

Other Requirements
The role requires you to attend college and travel to our site. Although a driving licence is not essential, you need to be able to get to both sites.

After This Apprenticeship
Upon completion of this apprenticeship there are many internal opportunities within the company. Many of our previous apprentices have become lead design engineers and take control of their own team and projects.

What’s Next?
Suitable candidates will be contacted via email to provide their evidence of required certifications. Once we receive the evidence of certification you will have a screening call with a recruiter to discuss the position. Afterward, you will be invited to an assessment centre, where you will participate in a practical assessment, meet the team, and have an interview.
Candidates will receive a response regarding the outcome of their application. If successful, they can expect to begin the apprenticeship with Johnson Controls in the late summer of 2025.
