Join us as a Summer Curriculum Instructor (Advisor) for NYLF LAW & CSI!
During this exciting eight-day program, held at University of Maryland, College Park, high school students explore the fields of law and crime scene investigation through hands-on experience. Scholars in the CSI track will create forensic criminal profiles and investigate a simulated crime scene, as they analyze hair, fiber, blood stain patterns, fingerprints and handwriting. In the legal track, scholars will participate in a mock trial and recreate a Supreme Court case. In addition to experiencing college life, scholars visit Fairfax Courthouse for live proceedings and George Mason University to hear from prominent forensic scientists.
As an Advisor, you will help to create life-changing moments by using Worldstrides’ curriculum to instruct and mentor high school students interested in the fields of Law & CSI.
Responsibilities:
1. Embody WorldStrides values and demonstrate best practices to all team members, participants, and their families.
2. Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for all participants.
3. Prepare participants for each day’s activities.
4. Effectively deliver 6 – 10 hours of curriculum according to pre-written lesson plans provided daily.
5. Serve as a positive leader, mentor, and role model for all program participants.
6. Implement and utilize positive and constructive instructional and behavioral management strategies.
7. Be knowledgeable of policies and procedures and assist in their enforcement.
8. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings.
9. Conduct regular attendance checks throughout the program.
10. Submit completed paperwork and program materials in a timely fashion, including but not limited to scholar surveys.
11. Assist with program logistics as needed (i.e. check-in on Arrival Day, unpacking supplies, loading and unloading supplies at program sites).
12. Work closely, cooperatively, and amicably with all team members.
13. Engage positively and productively in the feedback loop based upon feedback received from family and scholar surveys, supervisors, and team members.
14. Perform other duties as designated by the program leadership.
