Furness General Hospital are looking for a Clinical Fellow in Paediatrics to join our team for a period of 12 months to cover upcoming maternity leave.
The post is based in the Paediatric Department at Furness General Hospital and you will be part of a team delivering day to day care of patients on the Children's Ward and Special Care Baby Unit.
You will be required to participate in the 1:7 resident rota which includes night duties, day shifts and weekends.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as a member of a team of middle grade doctors working a full shift system.
The clinical duties of the post include the following:
* Day to day care of patients on the Children's Unit and Special Care Baby Unit as well as covering the Central Delivery Suite and post-natal Ward.
* Maintenance of patient's records and generation of timely Discharge Summaries.
* Participation in Consultant-led ward rounds undertaken by the Paediatric Team.
* Emergency care of patients in the paediatric assessment unit and the emergency department.
You will be encouraged to actively participate in audit, research, and training within the team.
You will also contribute to the teaching programme of the junior doctors and help to protect their teaching time during allocated teaching sessions.
About us
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Education & Qualifications
Essential
* Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practice.
* APLS (or equivalent).
* NLS (or equivalent).
Desirable
* Post Graduate Qualification in Paediatrics.
Experience
Essential
* Keen Interest in Paediatric Medicine.
Desirable
* Some experience of acute/non-acute Paediatrics e.g. child protection, child development.
Skills, ability and knowledge
Essential
* Ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients, families and colleagues.
* Good communication skills both written and oral.

* IT and computing skills.
