JOB PURPOSE
BACKGROUND: GROWTH MARKETING OFFICE, GLOBAL CD ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Growth Marketing Office (GMO) leads Marketing Transformation of Unilever driven by the imperative to drive sustainable business growth.
The key disciplines within GMO and their key initiatives are:
Delivering the marketing transformation required to enable the post Productivity organisation. This transformation is based on three critical shifts:
* Social First (6 codes to support the transformation of marketing ways of working)
* Market Making Innovation (tools, process, measurement)
* Elevating Brand Experience (UBS, Premiumisation, Design)
Integrated Brand Experience:
* Next-Gen Brand Communications - From Brands Say to Others Say and from inventive influencer capabilities to AI for design and creativity.
* Growth Media & Marketing Models - to accelerate the priority growth Marketing and Media models and channels (e.g. retail media, gaming and sponsorships)
* Global Marketing & Media Agencies & Partners Ecosystems, including identifying the best partners to pioneer for growth tomorrow.
* Media Operations & Data Strategy Enablement: One Unilever Media agency performance management, media operations. Approach on first party data, audiences and media planning.
* Advertising Production Excellence - from briefing to airing, achieving creative excellence and efficiency at a global scale. Key focus: Long form content.
Growth Initiatives and Capabilities:
* Future of Marketing Capabilities - Connecting priority marketing communities in service of GAP priorities.
* Growth Initiatives Project Management: PMO driving Strategic Initiatives on agile prioritisation, squad resourcing, orchestration of work and tracking progress to land these critical capabilities at scale.
* Marketing Innovation Excellence: Best practices, benchmarks, next-gen processes and frameworks enabling delivery of GAP priority of Big Bold Moves, with emphasis on going beyond the core and premiumization. Pulling together narrative on BBMs and landing it for internal/external audience.
CMI:
* Bringing the Outside In and Future Forward: Brand Engagement, Innovation, Human and Cultural Futures, Media effectiveness measurement, Shopping
* Agency Management: Managing current partners and developing new ones.
* CMI Skill Development
* Providing One Version of the Truth: On performance metrics like UBS, market share, brand power, distribution etc
* Toolkit Management: Providing an updated roster of agencies and vetting new partners especially in areas of AI enabled capabilities to ensure future fit.
The Global Customer Development organisation provides the following to those working in CD or CD related roles in Hubs, Business Units and Business Groups:
* Tools - both the development of and associated capex approval for technology tooling in areas including, Net Revenue Management or Category Management enabling data driven ROI improvement.
* Thought Leadership - working with CMI this team will provide senior stakeholders and leaders to support the continued evolution of the CD function.
* 1 Unilever Initiatives - the central team will coordinate, resource and lead on single initiatives with cross-geography/cross BG scopes - a current example of this is a programme delivering cost efficiencies and revenue growth through leveraging technology - which in turn can reduce the size of the in-market Field Force.
* Communication - creating a Global CD community enabling the sharing of Best Practice, Ideas and Success Stories.
* Capability - partnering the Learning & Development team to continue to deliver training and capability programmes which evolve the CD function and upskill those working within it.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Finance Partner to Global Marketing and Commerce Leadership Teams
* Drive greater value from Advertising spend - faster growth with greater effectiveness and efficiency providing best practice and insight to BG/BU/Hub teams on key topics e.g. Retailer Media, Digital Marketing & use of first party data
* Support the improvement of marketing effectiveness programs and the improvement of the Asset Creation ratio to maximize consumer impact of Advertising spend
* Provide deep subject matter expertise on the accounting for B&MI and Marketing Overheads with the long-term objective of moving to the Future Fit P&L - a new SCOA
* Advise the Global Performance Management team on key interventions in BMI to enable Unilever to hit its financial objectives
* Finance Partner to key activities managed for Unilever by the GMO (e.g. People Data Centres, Media RFP, evolution of Marketing Tech)
* Business partner major strategic initiatives/value interventions in partnership to the CCDO on topics including Distributive Trade Transformation, Organised Retail, Restructuring projects (e.g. EDDGIE), Technology & Tooling evolution
* Provide finance business partnership to the broader CD agenda, the CD Council and CD Products within UniOps
* The role will partner end-to-end the Global Consumer and Customer value chains, including digital capabilities (tech & data) and hubs.
* Commercial challenge to business proposals made by the GMO and the CD teams
* Provide governance and robust challenge to both Consumer and CD Capex projects
* Budget interventions when the FET identifies major issues requiring additional support

* Digitization of distributive trade - high investment project to deploy a global technology and data platform to DT markets
* Managing Salesforce for retail markets.
* NRM: Identification of growth opportunities, funnel tracking, pricing recommendations
* SKU simplification: driving value from Polaris above and below the skin
* Leveraging Generative AI
* Category growth management, retail partnerships, trade investment optimisation, digital selling
