We are seeking two Domestic Abuse Prevention Case Workers to join our innovative Behaviour Change Project, a vital part of the newly established Devon Domestic Abuse Alliance (DDAA), commissioned by Devon County Council.
We’re looking for compassionate, motivated, and resilient individuals who are passionate about preventing domestic abuse and promoting positive change.
The project’s core aim is to enhance the safety of victims and survivors by addressing the root causes of domestic abuse. Through trauma-informed, restorative interventions, we work with those who cause—or are at risk of causing—domestic abuse related harm to foster meaningful change. Our approach is underpinned by CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training) principles, which encourage critical thinking and reflective practice to promote safer relationships.
You will play a pivotal role in:
* Engage and Motivate: Building trusting relationships with individuals causing or at risk of causing domestic abuse related harm, encouraging participation in the Behaviour Change Project through 1:1 and group interventions.
* Assess and Plan: Evaluating referrals (self-referrals and from partner agencies) and develop tailored intervention plans that support positive behaviour change.
* Programme Facilitation: Delivering a range of domestic abuse prevention programmes aimed at increasing awareness, promoting self-reflection, and developing life skills to reduce harm.
* Monitor Risk and Impact: Tracking and assessing project involvement, programme attendance, and behavioural changes, ensuring that safety of victims and survivors remains central to all interventions.
* Multi-Agency Collaboration: Maintaining strong relationships with DDAA partner services and key stakeholders to ensure an integrated, coordinated response to domestic abuse across Devon.
* Enhance Service Delivery: Contributing to continuous service improvement by gathering feedback and monitoring outcomes to refine and enhance programme effectiveness.
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Experience of working with individuals involved in harmful or challenging behaviours.
* Strong understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse and the impact on victims, survivors, and families.
* Ability to engage with individuals in challenging situations, demonstrating empathy, patience, and perseverance.
* Experience of delivering group-based and 1:1 interventions.
* Strong communication, assessment, and risk management skills.
* Experience of multi-agency working, particularly within a safeguarding context.
* Knowledge of trauma-informed and restorative approaches.
