This position involves overseeing all aspects of mechanical detail design within assigned Electro-Optic and/or RF Products.
Senior Mechanical Engineer Role
* Location: Basildon (Hybrid)
* Pay Rate: £55 per hour (Inside IR35)
* Contract Duration: 9 months (minimum)
Duties and Responsibilities
* Maintain compliance with Mechanical Engineering solutions throughout the entire Engineering Lifecycle, ensuring consideration of requirements including product quality, safety, reliability, etc.
* Support senior peers in delivering mechanical solutions and techniques that enable the team to advance the next generation of EO and/or RF Products.
* Create Mechanical Engineering detailed designs, including numerical calculations, tolerance studies, etc.
* Produce Manufacturing Data Packs in line with BS8888, incorporating appropriate use of GD&T.
* Contribute to successful resolution of technical investigations.
* Participate in reviews of mechanical designs in accordance with business and industry standards.
* Engage in hands-on implementation of development builds and Design of Experiments.
* Provide support during the introduction of new products into the Development/Production lifecycle phase.
* Actively contribute to Work Package delivery elements to achieve desired Quality, Schedule, and Cost.
Technical Skills
* Understanding of design for 'harsh environments' including Shock, Vibration, EMC, salt fog, etc.
* Bill of Materials (BOM) Management
* Generation of detail and assembly drawings in accordance with BS8888.
* Experienced in integrating Printed Circuit Boards within a mechanical structure, with proven knowledge of electrical screening, grounding, etc.
* Familiarity with various aspects of DfX, including Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, Integration, and Sustainability.
* Mechanical engineering for Electronic Optic Products
* Numerical calculations, tolerance studies, etc.
* Hands-on mechanical design and development using 3D CAD software (PTC Creo).
* Thermal management techniques for power-dense Electronic Products.
