We are seeking an experienced Associate Professor in the School of Human & Social Sciences. The role involves developing and implementing strategies for course and module improvement, revalidation, and professional accreditations. You will oversee quality management, promote high achievement, and ensure compliance with University policies.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Associate Professor in the School of Human and Social Sciences
Faculty/Directorate: HSS
Grade: I
Location: High Wycombe campus with travel to other campuses, as required
Responsible to: Deputy Head of School or other designee
Responsible for: Leading school quality enhancement across all KPIs
Job Purpose:
* Develop and lead excellence in research-led teaching within the school.
* Act as the main point of contact in relation to educational matters within the School.
* Lead the design and delivery of high-quality research.
* Provide operational leadership at School level.
* Practice an inclusive approach to support building an inclusive university community.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Research and Knowledge Exchange:
* Conduct substantial and effective research and scholarly activity.
* Collaborate with relevant business and professional networks.
* Engage in effective doctoral supervision.
* Make significant contributions to knowledge through refereed outputs.
* Embed research within teaching and curriculum.
Learning, Teaching & Scholarship:
* Lead the delivery of research-informed teaching.
* Develop and manage strategies to enhance the School’s taught portfolio.
* Oversee course amendments/approvals and professional accreditations.
* Provide effective feedback, support, and guidance to students.
Leadership and Academic Citizenship:
* Ensure high-quality management and enhancement.
* Participate in business planning and strategy setting.
* Engage with professional bodies and policy-makers.
Other:
* Engage in professional development activities.
* Contribute to Open Days and marketing efforts.
* Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education, Qualifications & Training:
* Appropriate academic credentials to lead teaching and learning developments.
* Doctoral level qualification or relevant professional experience.
* Recognised HE teaching qualification and/or Fellow of Advance HE.
Knowledge & Experience:
* Expert knowledge and research in discipline/field.
* Demonstrated extensive experience of academic delivery in HE education.
* Evidence of attracting external funding.
* Significant track record of excellent student outcomes.
Skills:
* Excellent presentation, communication, and teaching delivery skills.
* Digitally able and proficient in Microsoft tools.
* Excellent Leadership and Management skills.
Special Requirements:
* A willingness to work in off-site locations and across all University campuses.
* A willingness to contribute to University Open Days.
* You will be required to deliver a micro-teach as part of your interview.
