About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join SEMH provisions, we currently have multiple vacancies in different schools across Bournemouth and Dorset. The successful candidate will work closely with secondary-aged pupils who have behavioural and SEMH needs, providing essential support to help them thrive both academically and personally. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people by offering 1:1 support, small group support, behaviour management, and mentoring.
Key Responsibilities
1:1 and Small Group Support: Work directly with pupils to provide tailored support that meets their individual needs, both inside and outside of the classroom.
Behaviour Support and Mentoring: Assist pupils in developing positive behaviours, social skills, and self-esteem through mentoring and consistent support.
Academic Support: Help pupils engage with the curriculum, offering support within lessons across various subjects to boost their academic achievement.
Collaboration: Work closely with teaching staff, SENCO, and other professionals to implement individual education plans and behaviour management strategies.
Progress Monitoring: Track and report on pupil progress, highlighting any areas of concern to the relevant staff members.
Building Positive Relationships: Develop and maintain trusting, supportive relationships with pupils to create a safe and nurturing learning environment.
Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and welfare of pupils at all times, following school safeguarding policies and procedures.Person Specification
Experience: Previous experience working with young people is essential. We welcome applicants from candidates with experience in schools, residential settings, care environments, and youth work.
Qualifications: Minimum GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent. Additional qualifications related to child development, mental health, or special education needs would be an advantage.
