Position: Support For Learning Worker
Location: Glasgow City (various positions)
Hours: 27.5 per week across 5 days (Term time)
Hourly rate: £13.25 - £14.09 per hour
Do you have experience of supporting and caring for children's needs? Are you interested in developing your skills and working in the education sector? We're recruiting Support for Learning Workers to support our children and young people access the curriculum and thrive in our establishments.
About the Role:
We have a number of different roles available across our establishments including Primary schools, Secondary schools, and our Additional Support for Learning estate where the profile of support required is more complex.
In all our roles, you will assist and support class teachers in the delivery of a high standard of education whilst providing learners with support to increase confidence and engagement with their learning.
In supporting our children and young people with a wide range of their additional support needs, you will use consistent approaches to support their wellbeing resulting in a culture where all learners understand and respect each other.
Key Responsibilities:
* Building positive working relationships with pupils within the school/learning community whilst actively supporting and promoting positive behaviour.
* Supervising/escorting pupils within the school premises, and where necessary with movement in corridors, stairs, and on activities undertaken out with the school.
* Supporting learners to access the curriculum whilst providing praise and encouragement to remain focused on tasks as directed by the teacher.
* Where appropriate, assisting pupils who need specific intimate personal care and medical support.
What We Seek:
* You will preferably have experience of working with children and/or young people with additional support needs; however, training and support will be provided as required.
* You will have good communication skills and the ability to be an effective team member who can assist and support class teachers.
* You will be able to provide a high standard of care for children and young people, remain calm in challenging situations, and be empathetic, flexible, and reliable.
* You will be trained, or willing to be trained if required, with complex healthcare needs.
* The preferred candidate will be required to obtain membership of the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to the formal offer of employment being made.
