Matthew James Recruitment are recruiting for a Transport Supervisor who is responsible for overseeing and managing the company's transportation operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of goods. Reporting to the Transport Manager, this role involves coordinating with various departments, managing a team of drivers and logistics personnel, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies. Working Hours - 07:30 - 16:30 / 16:30 - 01:00 Mon to Fri alternate weeks Key Responsibilities Transportation Operations Management: Plan, coordinate, and oversee the daily operations of the transport department to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods. Develop and implement transportation strategies that align with company objectives and customer requirements. Monitor and optimise transportation costs while maintaining high service levels. Team Leadership and Development: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of drivers and logistics staff, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide training to ensure team members are skilled and compliant with industry standards. Compliance and Safety: Ensure all transportation activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies, including health and safety standards. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of transport legislation and implement necessary changes to company procedures. Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards. Fleet Management: Oversee the maintenance, servicing, and legal compliance of the vehicle fleet to ensure reliability and safety. Manage vehicle acquisition, disposal, and utilisation to optimise fleet performance and cost-effectiveness. Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to transportation efficiency, cost, and service quality. Prepare and present regular reports to the Transport Manager, highlighting performance trends and areas for improvement. Customer Service and Relationship Management: Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to ensure seamless logistics operations and high customer satisfaction. Address and resolve transportation-related issues promptly to maintain strong customer relationships. Qualifications and Experience Experience: Proven experience in a transport supervisory role within a logistics or distribution environment. Demonstrated ability to manage a team and oversee complex transportation operations. Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities. Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in transport management software and Microsoft Office Suite. In-depth knowledge of transport legislation and compliance requirements. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
