Reed Engineering are currently representing a client who is seeking experienced time-served Mechanical Fitters, Workshop and Field Service Engineers to cover an array of sites and installations across Essex and surrounding areas.
Candidates must have experience within the heavy engineering sectors, electrical installation to a high standard, fault finding, the ability to understand wiring drawings, and the ability to test electrical systems. Maintenance experience of high voltage systems would be an advantage but not essential.
The successful applicant will have the following profile:
1. The ability to read electrical drawings, although full training will be provided for our specific requirements.
2. A full driving license, preferably clean.
3. Self-motivated to work individually but adaptable to work as part of a team.
4. Able to communicate in a clear, concise, logical manner both verbally and in writing.
5. Served a recognised electrical Indentured Apprenticeship.
6. Fault finding, repair, installation, and commissioning experience.
7. Good customer service skills.
The applicant must:
1. Diagnose and repair electrical problems in commercial and heavy industry electrical systems, including fault-finding, rewiring, and monitoring.
2. Ideally be an electrical technician who has worked on power stations with systems such as motors, actuators, trace heating, LV switchgear maintenance, and electrical defects.
3. May also require performing a number of mechanical tasks.
4. Conduct routine maintenance and testing on commercial and heavy industry electrical systems, ensuring installations are to manufacturer standards.
5. Rewire faulty electrical panel systems to a high standard.
6. Ensure good quality workmanship which upholds company standards, complies with building codes, and follows safety requirements.
7. Work alone to find and present faults and concerns in electrical systems without receiving explicit direction.
8. Provide exceptional customer service and answer any customer questions.
9. Install electrical systems to 18th edition wiring regulations; training can be provided.
10. Provide professional assessments and advice for customers, this can be in the form of technical reports, emails, instructions, but not limited to.
11. Possess working knowledge of IEE regulations, City & Guilds 2360 and 2382 qualifications, and inspection and testing certificate (2391); not all necessary.
12. Have previous experience of electrical testing, installation scopes, and fault finding.
13. Be an autonomous role from time to time, motivated individual.
14. Have a good level of fitness due to the physical demands of the job.
15. Be able to pass security clearances.
16. Have a flexible and positive outlook.
17. Be able to attend out of hours call outs.
Desirable attributes: The following qualities would be an advantage but are not essential:
1. Recognised Health and Safety training.
2. Welding experience and qualification.
3. Hydraulic, pneumatic, or fluid system experience.
4. Previous experience in power generation and/or aggregate sectors.
5. High voltage systems not essential.
6. Electrical maintenance activities such as trace heating installation or testing, motor installation and testing.
7. Electrical Actuator testing.
8. ATEX systems not essential; training can be provided.
