Job Description Job Summary: The Sys/Apps (System and Application) Development Department is responsible for maintaining and developing the IntelliPen .NET application and the underlying systems required to support it. This involves implementing new features and enhancements as well as bug fixing issues as and when they arise. The Sys/Apps Department works closely with testers and project managers to ensure new functionality is developed and tested to specification/requirement. The scope of this role includes building and maintaining our IntelliPen .NET application supporting our US entity collaborating with the rest of the team to ensure all work aligns with our objectives, as well as client needs. Overseeing the performance of applications to ensure they’re always running properly, and to improve our overall application development process and continuously find ways to advance our platform. Another essential part of the role will be supporting, maintaining and extending existing client platform installations. Good time management and problem-solving skills are essential to this role. You will be supported by a team of like-minded and skilled individuals, and there will be in-house training on the pensions sector as well as the use of our platform. Our developers often work together and we're always helping each other out, so you’ll definitely need to be a team player. You should also be committed to learning and sharing ideas but be conscious where they can add value within the current parameters of our approach Key Responsibilities: Build and maintain software that fulfils specific needs Find solutions to security threats, viruses, or errors that might hinder the performance of the application Carry out regular security and performance checks. Stay on track of the application lifecycle to ensure necessary updates are completed on time Analyse stakeholder and user requirements. Document all changes made to applications. Communicate with clients and other teams/stakeholders. Collaborating with other developers and other departments Investigation of problems and determining the best solution Create technical documentation for reference and reporting Escalate or refer to team members where required to ensure the task in hand is delivered on in a timely and accurate way. Build credibility with team members and support team members by sharing knowledge and providing feedback Remain current on technology trends to keep our software as innovative as possible Required Skills and Experience: JavaScript / JQuery CSS Source control (Git, Subversion) Knowledge of Azure development Responsive Web Development XML/JSON processing REST HTTP services/APIs Classic ASP Delphi experience an advantage Financial services software development SQL (ideally T-SQL) IntelliPen or other pension administration systems, e.g. Equiniti Compendia, Aquila Administrator, Profund oPen Microsoft Office, specifically Excel Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) Ability to learn new technologies quickly Knowledge of Pensions Proficient in C# and/or VB.NET Knowledge of ASP.NET web framework Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server database development Strong programmer who consistently delivers well-tested and robust code Aware of own limits and knows when to seek expert advice Time management and strong focus on delivery Excellent algorithmic and problem-solving skills Team player and great collaborator, but also self-motivated and able to work independently Patience and attention to detail Fluent in English, excellent written and verbal communication skills
