Location: Mix of home working and from The Old Vic, 103 The Cut, London, SE1 8NB (min 3 office days, normally on a fixed rota)
Hours: Full-Time - 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday

Desired Start Date: By end March 2025
Salary: £48,000 - £55,000 depending on experience.

Role Summary
The Commercial Finance Analyst will report to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for providing financial analysis, planning and business insight, with a particular focus on commercial activity from Bars, café, merchandise and labour planning, and the new Backstage Building (opening Oct 2025). They will use data, analytics and modelling skills to support business insight and system improvements, identifying opportunities for growth and improving profitability.
As part of wider financial planning and analysis, they will create consolidated budgets and management accounts models and will help to bring together the annual budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management in conjunction with the Production Accountant, Head of Finance and Management Accountant.
The role will also include business partnership for the Commercial Team, Chief Financial Officer and ad hoc projects for the senior leadership team.
Your Team
You will work closely with the Head of Finance and Production Accountant. In the finance team, there is a further Management Accountant, a Transactions Manager, Finance Assistant and Payroll Manager.
Areas of responsibility
The Commercial Finance Analyst will be responsible for:
Financial controls
• Accurate, timely and complete reporting against budgets and forecasts.
• Support in the preparation of annual budget and regular re-forecasting cycles.
Financial planning
• Support in the preparation of annual budget and regular re-forecasting cycles.
• Support in preparation of a three-year plan and submission as part of the annual business plan.
Financial analysis
• Preparation of insight and analysis to highlight financial trends and inform decision making.
• Detailed weekly commercial income, gross profit and labour reporting, developing new ways of presenting information to support commercial activity.
• Payroll planning and analysis.
• Analysis and support for the new Backstage Building and Events space.
• Ad hoc project work and scenario planning for Senior Management.
Financial and Management Reporting
• Support with Board reporting and presentation of financial information.
• Support with consolidated monthly management accounts preparation and reporting.
• Departmental management accounts for commercial departments with additional analysis.
• Preparing and posting prepayments, accruals, depreciation and other key balance sheet journals and reconciliations.
• Supporting the Head of Finance and team on completion of the annual report and accounts.
Statutory
• Bank reporting.
• Council, National Statistics and Art Council England reporting and other External Funder Reporting.
Systems
• Optimising use of EPOS systems for financial control, reporting and analysis purposes.
• In conjunction with the Head of Finance, optimising use of Business Central software.
• Lead on use of data modelling and system tools such as Jet Reporting, Power BI and Advanced Excel techniques to improve automation, reporting, accuracy and insight.
• Act as superuser and provide training to new users.
• Plan and manage the delivery of regular system updates.

Person Specification
Essential
• Qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/ACMA) or QBE with significant in-depth systems, data and analytical experience.
• Experience providing commercial decision support to senior management.
• Demonstrate advanced Excel, systems, data and modelling experience.
• Exemplary organisation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A positive ‘can do’ approach and strong relationship building skills across departments.
• Acute attention to detail.
• A proven ability to work effectively and efficiently.
• Excellent customer service skills with a people-centric approach.
• Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise tasks.
Knowledge of EPOS systems, Tessitura, Power BI, Jet Reporting and/or Business Central is not essential but may be beneficial.
