Overview This is a 3-year probation, during which you will be working full time as a salaried Police Officer and completing a Degree in Policing Practice whilst working. This will be a full on 3 years, as you will be working shifts (including nights and weekends) whilst still be expected to complete all the assignments/academic work for the Degree alongside this. It will require hard work from the student. The Degree is fully funded by Bedfordshire Police. You will work in several different areas of Policing during your 3-year probation which include Response/Patrol (front line), Community Policing Teams and also Crime Investigation. The educational requirements for this route are A-C or 4-9 in GCSE Maths and English AND 32 or more UCAS points at level 3 (A-Levels/BTEC etc.) If you already hold a degree, you are NOT eligible for this route. Nationality Eligibility 'To be eligible for appointment, you must be a British citizen or a citizen of a country that is a member of the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland. Commonwealth citizens and foreign nationals are also eligible but only if they are resident in the UK free of restrictions.' You are able to apply with a provisional driving licence whilst working towards passing your driving test. But you MUST have passed your test and hold a FULL MANUAL driving licence before you complete your initial training, which will be after 22 weeks of your start date. Responsibilities Conduct regular patrols to deter and detect criminal activity. Respond promptly to calls for assistance, emergencies, and incidents. Enforce laws and regulations while ensuring the rights of individuals are respected. Prepare detailed reports on incidents, arrests, and investigations. Engage with community members to build relationships and promote crime prevention initiatives. Provide first aid assistance when necessary and coordinate with emergency services.
