Bank Complex Healthcare Assistant (Female) Milton Keynes, Bedford, Dunstable
KASE Care is looking for experienced and compassionate Female Complex Healthcare Assistants to join our bank staff team, providing high-quality, specialised care to individuals with spinal cord injuries, ventilation needs, tracheostomies, PEG/RIG feeding, and bowel management. This flexible role is ideal for HCAs looking to supplement their hours while gaining valuable experience in complex care.
As a Bank Complex HCA, you must commit to working at least one shift per month and will receive full training and induction to ensure you deliver safe and effective care. If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals with complex needs, we would love to hear from you!
Main duties of the job
* Specialist Complex Care: Provide one-to-one, person-centred care for individuals with spinal cord injuries, ventilation needs, tracheostomies, and PEG/RIG feeding.
* Bowel Management: Assist with manual evacuation, suppositories, and other bowel care procedures.
* Tracheostomy & Ventilation Care: Monitor, suction, and maintain tracheostomy tubes and ventilators to ensure airway safety.
* Cough Assist & Autonomic Dysreflexia Management: Recognise symptoms, operate cough assist devices, and respond effectively to autonomic dysreflexia episodes.
* PEG/RIG Feeding & Medication Administration: Safely administer enteral feeds and medications in line with care plans.
* Catheter Care: Maintain hygiene and monitor for signs of infection or complications.
* Moving, Handling & Repositioning: Assist with safe transfers, hoisting, and pressure area care.
* Record Keeping: Maintain accurate care documentation and report changes in the service user's condition.
* Emotional & Social Support: Provide companionship and reassurance, promoting dignity and independence.
These duties ensure service users receive high-quality, specialist care in their own homes, supporting their well-being and independence.

Job responsibilities

Job Type: Bank Staff (Minimum of One Shift Per Month Required)
Salary:
* On Probation: £13 - £16 per hour
* Post-Probation: £14 - £17 per hour
Requirements
* Must be female (Occupational Requirement under the Equality Act 2010).
* Previous experience in complex care, particularly with spinal cord injuries, ventilation, tracheostomies, PEG/RIG feeding, bowel management, and autonomic dysreflexia (training available for suitable candidates).
* Ability to work independently and within a team, providing high-quality, person-centred care.
* Strong communication and record-keeping skills.
* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
* Commitment to working at least one shift per month to remain on the bank staff team.
Training & Induction Process
All candidates must attend:
* A full-day recruitment session at our head office in Loughton, Essex.
* If successful, a five-day induction training programme at our head office.
* Shadow shifts with service users to gain hands-on experience before starting independent work.

* Tracheostomy Care Training Essential for managing and maintaining tracheostomy tubes safely.
* Ventilation Management Training Experience in providing care for service users requiring ventilatory support.
* Medication Administration Certification Understanding of safe medication handling and administration in line with care plans.
* Bowel Management Training Competency in bowel care procedures, including manual evacuation and suppositories.
* PEG/RIG Feeding Training Knowledge and experience in managing enteral feeding tubes safely and effectively.
* Moving & Handling Training Certification in safe manual handling, including repositioning and the use of hoists.
* Cough Assist Training Experience using cough assist devices to support respiratory function.
* Autonomic Dysreflexia Management Training Essential for recognising and responding to this life-threatening condition.
* Catheter Care Training Experience in managing urinary catheters, maintaining hygiene, and monitoring for complications.
