The core purpose of the role of the Student Support Manager is to deliver prompt and appropriate support to students whilst they're on the programme, working collaboratively with the Educatius UK & Ireland team to improve current systems. Keeping the overview of student welfare as their key priority, the Support Manager will report on and oversee issues regarding safeguarding, quality, and the mental health and wellbeing of students.
This is a full-time role with standard working hours being 09:00 - 17:00 Monday-Friday. Occasional out of hours work required and this will be discussed at interview. The successful applicant will be based in our office close to Worthing town centre.
Responsibilities
1. Management of Educatius Local Coordinators (LC) in relation to student issues to include a weekly meetings to discuss and advise on current issues;
2. Attend weekly meetings with the Welfare Team and present a report on any quality concerns and student issues;
3. Registration of Private Fostering Arrangements (PFAs) with Local Authorities for students under the age of 16;
4. Attend appropriate Safeguarding and Child Protection training and review and amend policies and procedures in line with current legislation in collaboration with the Welfare Team;
5. Twice yearly trips to visit students in programme areas;
6. Provide direct support to students experiencing difficulties whilst on the programme;
7. Maintenance and development of the Independent Listener service;
8. Management of the creation and agreement of Student Support Plans.
9. Management of the UK Private Boarding School programme to include:
1. Student admissions;
2. Delivery of pre-arrival orientation meeting for incoming students;
3. Handling arrangements for student arrivals and departures;
4. Liasing with schools regarding any issues;
5. Delivery of Educatius Guardianship service.
Qualifications
1. Educated to degree level or significant experience within a related role;
2. An understanding of child safeguarding and welfare;
3. Effective interpersonal and communication skills;
4. Empathy and an ability to work calmly under pressure;
5. Ability to work well within a team but also use initiative to problem solve;
6. Experience of working with young people;
7. Competent use of basic IT systems;
8. Driving license and access to own car.
Desirable but not essential:
1. Experience of the international education industry.
