Applications are invited for Advanced Clinical Pharmacist- Homecare & High Cost Drugs Band 8A at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
Applicants will assist the Head of Pharmacy and all other pharmacy staff in providing and developing an efficient and comprehensive pharmaceutical service for the patients of MWL Teaching Hospitals.

Main duties of the job
To manage and develop the clinical services and delivery of all high cost and homecare medicines to MWL patients.
* To lead and deliver high quality clinical pharmacy services to patients under your care at Mersey and West Lancashire (MWL) Teaching Hospitals, including the development of a speciality pharmacist role in line with national and local medicines optimisation strategies at the Whiston and St. Helens sites.
* Liaise with the Principal Pharmacist for Medicines Optimisation in the development and maintenance of a Homecare strategy, leading on clinical and financial aspects of product switching to ensure best value for money for all procured homecare medicines.
* To assist the Head of Pharmacy and all other pharmacy staff in providing and developing an efficient and comprehensive pharmaceutical service for the patients of Mersey and West Lancashire (MWL) Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
* To participate in the department rota to ensure a pharmacy service is provided efficiently over 7 days.

KEY DUTIES
* To provide a clinical service in the provision of all high cost drug prescriptions to the key therapeutic areas, with a focus on use of biologic medicines in specific clinical areas.
* To support the development of commissioner approved pathways within these key therapeutic areas, liaising with clinicians and nurse specialists.
* To support the use of biologics including the introduction of biosimilar equivalents in the Trust according to agreed protocols and standards.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Vocational master's degree in pharmacy
* Post Graduate Diploma/MSc in Clinical Pharmacy
* 1 Year pre-registration training
* Membership of General Pharmaceutical Council
* Non-Medical prescribing qualification or working towards
* Demonstrate commitment to continuing professional development/education
* Membership of Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Faculty membership of the RPS
Knowledge & Experience
* Demonstrate extensive experience of providing clinical pharmacy services to multiple specialities within an acute hospital
* In depth clinical Knowledge and experience of management of patients within the department of Medicine for older people (DMOP)
* Experience of working in a busy dispensary environment
* Experience of drug reporting and financial management to directorates
* Demonstrable experience of clinical audit and practice research
* Leading and supervising audit or practice research projects
* Experience in using the Pharmacy Computer System
* Experience of electronic prescribing
Skills
* Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
* Ability to work alone and as part of a team in a challenging environment
* Good organisational skills including ability to meet deadlines
* Ability to work under pressure
