The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in machining and building complex components for physical special effects. Additionally, the ability to design parts using CAD software such as SolidWorks will be a significant advantage. Key Responsibilities: Machining & Fabrication Operate CNC machines, lathe machines, and milling machines to produce high-quality components for special effects projects. Read and interpret technical drawings, ensuring precise machining of parts to required specifications. Handle materials such as metals, plastics, and composites to build props, rigs, and mechanical effects. Ensure all machines are properly maintained and calibrated for accurate production. Design & Prototyping Collaborate with supervisors and designers to develop technical solutions for special effects requirements. Use SolidWorks or other CAD software to create 3D models and technical drawings for custom components. Assist in the design and assembly of complex mechanical rigs and special effects systems. Assembly & Installation Assemble machined and fabricated parts to create fully functioning mechanical effects. Conduct quality checks on completed components to ensure they meet safety and performance standards. Support the installation and setup of special effects on location or at client sites as needed. Team Collaboration Work closely with project supervisors, technicians, and freelance staff to ensure smooth project execution. Provide feedback and suggest improvements during the prototyping and production phases. Assist in maintaining a clean and organized workshop environment. Required Qualifications & Skills: Technical Skills: Proven experience in operating CNC machines, lathe machines, and other machining equipment. Strong understanding of machining processes, including milling, turning, drilling, and cutting. Proficiency in CAD software, preferably SolidWorks, for 3D modeling and technical drawing. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. Familiarity with different materials (metals, plastics, composites) and their machining properties. Basic knowledge of mechanical assembly and rigging. Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
