The role Overview To be an active member of the Group HR team, supporting the Head of HR with the delivery of our people plans across the whole of the Group and its subsidiaries. To provide a proactive and commercially focussed generalist HR service that underpins the operation and supports business success whilst aligned to our company values. To lead and deliver strategic projects to implement the People Strategy, positioning Age Partnership, Pure Retirement and associated businesses as employers of choice within the region. Key Outputs Business Partnering and General HR Act in a commercially focused business–partnering capacity with senior managers to support people centred initiatives across the Group of businesses, in compliance with UK legislation and best practice Support operational managers in all areas of employee relations, providing robust pragmatic advice to ensure wherever possible the commercial needs of the businesses are balanced with the needs of the employee. Remain up to date on employment legislation, and subsequently monitor, review and update all HR practices, policies, procedures, processes and documentation to ensure they are in line with UK Employment Law, making recommendations for change as appropriate. Confidently conduct HR specific training sessions and 1–2–1 coaching to upskill current and new managers regarding their HR responsibilities. Accurately deliver an advisory service to employees for all employment related issues. Culture and Engagement Work with business stakeholders in the development and delivery of a culture that reflects our company values and ensures that colleagues are engaged and recognised as a crucial part of the business success. Support the Group Head of HR to continually review operational practices and to work with managers, the executive team and IIP Champions to ensure the Investors In People accreditation is achieved, enhanced and maintained across the businesses within the Group. Support the use of other engagement initiatives, including annual engagement surveys where relevant, and using the feedback from these surveys to work with the business on the design and implementation of initiatives to optimise attraction, development, engagement and retention. Develop and promote initiatives that encourage Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, to ensure that all colleagues are able to participate in the business to their full ability. Provide HR representation and guidance to forums, committees and employee voices groups across the business, ensuring their alignment to the businesses’ people plans. Performance and Talent Development Champion a high-performance culture, advising managers and other stakeholders in order to create an environment that encourages and rewards behaviours aligned to our culture and company values. Collaborate with the Learning & Development team to ensure the provision of an effective appraisal process and 1:1s to promote development for colleagues. Make recommendations for, design and deliver initiatives to meet the development and performance needs of colleagues, including talent mapping and recognition initiatives. Work with operational managers, the Compliance and Oversight team, and L&D colleagues to determine effective standards of performance and behaviour and to support the management of under–performing colleagues. Resourcing & Recruitment Collaborate with the Group HR Workforce Manager and operational managers to ensure their team structures and the roles within the team/department meet their commercial objectives Work with the Group HR Workforce Manager to ensure effective recruitment, including hiring of senior roles Work with department managers and the wider HR team to ensure effective onboarding and integration of new employees. General responsibilities Lead and deliver strategic projects to implement the People Strategy, positioning Age Partnership, Pure Retirement and its associated businesses as employers of choice within the region. Play an active role in the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems as appropriate. Manage workflow to the HR Advisor. Support the development of the HR Advisor and HR Assistant colleagues as appropriate. Work with the Group HR Workforce Manager to ensure optimal use and analysis of HR metrics and reports by providing depth of knowledge from business partnering relationships. Other Ad-hoc duties as and when required by the business. Skills and knowledge Essential Proven experience operating in HR generalist role at a similar level. Proven experience in handling ER matters and coaching managers Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity at all times A team player, committed to working with colleagues within the HR team and the wider business to achieve our goals Proactive, pragmatic and flexible in approach Logical and analytical problem solving abilities High attention to detail and accuracy Excellent written and verbal communication and influencing skills. Demonstrable experience of strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, with the ability to work across all levels of the business Fully conversant with the full Microsoft Office suite Desirable Previous experience in a financial services/professional services organisation. Previous experience in a regulated industry Previous experience in a contact centre environment. Experience working with HR database systems Training and facilitation skills. Qualifications Essential CIPD qualified or with significant HR experience and willing to work towards CIPD qualifications English and mathematics GCSE pass level or equivalent
