We are looking for an experienced HR professional to join a respected UK charity, providing essential HR support across recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and employee relations. You will be based on site at their Reading office, reporting to the Head of HR.
Salary £30k - £38k dependant on experience.
HR Advisor - About the Role:
As HR Advisor, you will work closely with managers and employees, offering expert guidance on a range of HR matters. You will play a vital role in ensuring smooth recruitment processes, seamless onboarding, and accurate payroll data updates while supporting the wider HR team with generalist duties. You will also act as a trusted advisor to managers, providing confident and practical support on employee relations cases.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage end-to-end recruitment processes, including advertising roles, screening candidates, and coordinating interviews
Oversee onboarding, ensuring a positive experience for new starters
Maintain and update payroll data, working closely with finance teams to ensure accuracy
Provide first-line HR advice on policies, procedures, and best practices
Support and coach managers on employee relations matters, including absence management, performance issues, disciplinary and grievance cases
Support employee wellbeing initiatives and HR projects
Ensure HR records are up to date and comply with UK employment law
HR Advisor - About you:
Solid experience as an HR Advisor or similar generalist HR role
Knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices is essential and ideally CIPD qualified or equivalent
Strong recruitment and onboarding experience
Ability to handle payroll updates with accuracy and attention to detail
Confident in advising managers on employee relations issues, including case management
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
A team player who is proactive, organised, and passionate about making a difference
